we start the new module and now its a time for Teams, something I have been a little apprehensive of. not because I don't play well with others, I actually feel I get on well with most people and enjoy working with people. In more recent years its felt like people have worked with me, look to me for direction, and that I have taken the lead rather than been led. I am used to it and I'm hoping that working in teams in this way will help me to change the way I work professionally. I wouldn't say I am controlling but it's certainly been the case that I have taken control to create an outcome that I am happy with. I want to learn from others in this module, fill the gaps, and improve on my weaknesses.

Now for the first test is a Personality Test. Oh dear god!

For this i used Truity, The Big Five Personality Test as suggested in the first weeks content. The results were a good mix.

This Big Five assessment measures your scores on five major dimensions of personality: Openness, Conscientiousness, Extraversion, Agreeableness, and Neuroticism (sometimes abbreviated OCEAN).

The more notable results are in Agreeableness, which I suppose working in a team should be a good trait to have. This shows high levels of empathy and trust in others along with a will to cooperate. This can be paired with the low score in Neuroticism which suggests more of an optimistic and a tendency to move on when things go wrong, to work through it to achieve their goals.

Openness describes an individual’s tendency to think in complex, abstract ways. People who are high in Openness are abstract thinkers, while people who are low in Openness are concrete thinkers.

High in Openness suggests i am more creative and imaginative than average, and more likely to appreciate unusual ideas... Yeah i can relate to that i guess.

Your mind is better able to process loosely connected ideas, and so you are more apt to appreciate, say, a sculpture of an elephant built out of forks. While many people would find such a thing bizarre, you enjoy considering the meaning of things and working to understand how seemingly unrelated ideas might be connected.

This might have something to do with working in an Art Department for the past 13 years, working on multiple creative subjects, my background started out more Logical working in Engineering but I would agree that this mixture has enabled me to be more open to thought, ideas, and concepts.

The image below shows that the logical aspect of my motivations score very low compared to the Empathetic and this I am really surprised in as I would have thought it would be closer to even.

The personality test bodes well for teamwork and creative thinking, it has surprised me a little with my Logical thinking aspect as I feel I do put that ahead of making more important decisions in life and work. It certainly feels like I am constantly learning something new about myself.
